YOUNG ALUMNUS/ALUMNA ACHIEVER AWARDEE 2026
Mr. Sibabrata Das is the Co-founder and Chief Operating Officer of Atomberg Technologies.
After completing his B.Tech. from IIT Bombay, he embarked on an entrepreneurial journey early in his career.
Even as a student, he demonstrated strong entrepreneurial aptitude and co-founded an e-commerce company during his final year at IIT Bombay. He successfully ran the business as CEO for two years before exiting to co found Atomberg Technologies.
Since co-founding Atomberg, Mr. Das has played a pivotal role in building the company from the ground up. Alongside his co-founder, Mr. Manoj, he helped lay the foundation, vision, and ambition that continue to define Atomberg’s journey. From assembling the initial core team and driving early execution to leading multiple fundraising rounds that enabled the company’s rapid scale-up, he has been closely involved in every phase of growth. He also led the development of Atomberg’s water purifier business from scratch, expanding the company’s innovation into new product categories.
Under his leadership, Atomberg has disrupted India’s century-old consumer durables industry through deep engineering and technology-led innovation. By building world-class products from India, the company has demonstrated that Indian enterprises can lead not only in scale but also in cutting-edge innovation. Atomberg’s BLDC technology has saved more than 2.5 billion units of electricity, contributing meaningfully to sustainability at a national level. The company has also generated over 3,000 direct and indirect jobs, strengthening India’s manufacturing and innovation ecosystem and inspiring startups to take on complex, engineering-driven challenges.
He has been recognised across various platforms for his contributions to Atomberg’s growth story. His accolades include being featured in Forbes 30 Under 30, receiving the National Energy Conservation Award multiple times, being named the GCIP Global Winner – Energy Efficiency Category (Global Cleantech Innovation Program), earning WWF Recognition for Energy Efficiency Contribution, and being honoured at the Economic Times Startup Awards – “Best on Campus 2019.” He was also recognised under the Prime Minister’s “Champions of Change” – Startup Ecosystem initiative for his role in strengthening India’s innovation landscape.
Interests & Hobbies: Outside of work, I find joy in playing cricket, staying active, and spending meaningful time with my family. I am deeply curious about history, especially the evolution of financial systems and how culture, religion, and society have influenced economies over centuries. I also enjoy conversations with other founders, learning from their experiences, and constantly broadening my understanding of different industries and ideas.
A Personal Note: We sometimes overlook the contribution of our surroundings to our successes. I can focus on work because my wife takes care of everything else; she brings a lot of stability to my life, and she continuously pushes me to achieve more. I have graduated from IIT Bombay because my elder brother sacrificed his career by making sure I have all the means to focus on study. Without my elder sisters’ support, I wouldn’t have gotten admission to the coaching centre, which helped me clear JEE, and my Maa has always been supportive of my risky decisions despite very moderate family economic conditions. We should be grateful for all we have.
